"We had a thoroughly brilliant week, the only problem we found was by arriving after mid-day on Sunday no where was open to get the baisic essentials, (bread tea coffe milk etc) so the opportunity of a welcome pack would have been very beneficial, apart from that the property and it's surroundings were truly fantastic. Thankyou for a superb holiday."

Owner Comment:
Thank you, Lynne, for drawing attention to this logistical problem.

We warn our guests before they travel that there is no shopping after midday on Sundays pretty well anywhere in France. If flight schedules force you to arrive on Sunday afternoons, please let us know, and we'll try and help.

"The position of the property and the views were fantastic and such a lovely place to come back to after a day out doing something energetic. We loved the under floor heating and the wood burner and the property was a real pleasure to stay in. Not only was it beautifully situated it was well equiped and very comfortable. A great place for a winter break and I am sure it must be fantastic in the summer as well. Would recommend to anyone."

"good size, good quiet position with fine views, and having a bathroom in each bedroom is as it should be these days. Very warm, and under floor heating is very good for a tiled floor. Nice wood burner. modern and clean ambiance. Beds and furnsihings a bit on the mean side in size and quality maybe? Table too small to fit legs under easily (we are all near 6 feet tall). Beds had thin sheets we had to make up ourselves and no matress protectors; and there is poor sound insulation between bedrooms. But much better than most gites, and we would go back."

Owner Comment:
Thank you, John, for your helpful comments.

There should certainly have been mattress covers (not plastic protectors), and the beds should always be made up on arrival. Sorry about this; we'll try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We have checked all the bedlinen and thrown away any that were on the thin side (well, not actually thrown them away; we're using them ourselves!).

The dining table is such a charming farmhouse antique that we think most of our guests will be happy with it.

But we are delighted, John, that like all our other guests, you feel the Domaine de Loustalviel warrants a return visit.

"This was a magnificient property that exceeded our expectations.Although this was the quiet season we had a great time using it as a base for exploring much of the local country side and points of interest."

"If you are looking for a peaceful holiday in idyllic surroundings then LoustalBeau at Le Domaine de Loustalviel is the location to head for. the accommodation is beautiful and much larger then I expected. Sitting in the evening with the view of the mountains in the distance and the sounds of the birds was just perfect. the swimming pool was the jewel to top it all (a little cold to start but be brave and it will be worth it). We had good weather the first week and cloudy the second. Around Le Domaine de Loustalviel there are plenty of small towns to visit and Carcassonne should not be missed. Finally, the Caretaker was a 'pet', helpful yet not intrusive and always on hand if needed."

"Superior accomodation which exceeded our expectations. Spotless and clean with a view to die for! The cleanest pool ever encountered. An opportunity to stay in a handsome barn with picture window looking out over rural France...you will not be dissapointed."

"Delightful peaceful location. Lovely spacious, airy house. Good facilities, though had problems with TV and CD player/radio did not work."

Owner Comment:
I
f you ever have any problems with equipment or facilities, please tell Chantal or Salah, our helpful caretakers. They'll fix it or replace it immediately. (One of our guests recently got somewhat too enthusiastic about and England batting performance, and knocked the TV off its stand and broke it. The replacement was in position and working after only 6 overs!)

"The property was very well equipped and very spacious. It had beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed a very relaxed, jovial and away from it all (with amenities!) 2 weeks holiday. Would like to be there now!"

"When we first arrived we couldn't take our eyes off the mountains..we shall miss seeing them through the bedroom window every morning! We're not avid bird twitchers, but we did spot some stunning 'Hoopoe' got to be seen..Oh we can't forget Chantal and Salah, lovely couple, very helpful but not intrusive. Between the phrase book and many arm gestures, we got on marvellously! So, all in all we had a fab time, will be reckomending to our friends.. Au revoir Pina and Mick."

"An extremely well equipped house in a beautiful rural location with wonderful views of the Pyrenees. Lots to see in the area. Lovely garden and excellent swimming pool, protected by a very efficient fence and gate to allow us to relax and enjoy a holiday with two small children. Caretakers friendly and very helpful, owners very kind and reacted promptly to our concerns about the pool by arranging early erection of the fence. A wonderful place for a holiday with extended family or several families."

"Fantastic property and location. Excellent service from the owner. Previous holiday rentals in France have always left room for improvement, but not this one."

Review submitted by John from Nottingham (Submitted: 01/07/2008)
"We had a wonderful holiday at Loustalviel, if you require peace and tranquility then look no further. The views from the pool overlooking the Pyrenees was spectacular on a clear day, the gardens full of fruit trees and there was plenty of space to wander and for our children to roam. The pool was a delight and the solar heating helped to make it even more welcoming. Our only concern of the holiday was the safety of our little children wandering near the pool, the security system did not appear to work, a simple fence to secure the area would be a good idea. The caretakers were always at hand if required, very polite and friendly but never intrusive. However it does help if you can speak a little French! Overall a wonderful location and a splendid holiday."

Owner Comment:
There is now a safety fence around the pool. It has taken us a long time to find one that is totally secure without spoiling the view and the atmosphere, but we were grateful for suggestions like this one, which kept the pressure on us to find the right solution.

"Lovely spacious house had plenty of room and facilities for two families to share a holiday without being on top of each other. Beautiful location though a longish drive from shops and restaurants. Chantal and Salah were charming and very helpful."

Owner Comment:
It's very important that our guests should know that we are in the depths of the country, and the nearest shops and restaurants are a 10 minute drive away. Most of the restaurants described in our "Guide Gastronomique" are within a 1/2 hour drive.
